Where We Are
We are approximately 1.5 hours from Inverness (70 miles) and Ullapool (60 miles) and 2 hours from Isle of Skye (80 miles).
The campsite is 3 miles out of Gairloch.
Buses run from Inverness/Ullapool to Gairloch but there is no public transport from Gairloch to the campsite.
ROUTE 1
1 From Inverness continue north on the A9 until the Tore roundabout after 12 miles (20km).
2 Take the A835 towards Ullapool.
3 Just after Garve in 19 miles (31km) the scenic route by Loch Maree can be taken by branching left onto the A832 and following this road through Achnasheen and Kinlochewe to Gairloch. This is 45 miles (72km).
4 The route to Sands Caravan & Camping is on the B8021. This road branches to the left in Gairloch approximately 1 mile (1.5km) after the harbour.
This route is shorter but contains a few stretches of single track road where passing places are used to allow oncoming traffic to pass. They should also be used to allow faster following traffic to overtake. If you are not familiar with single track roads please look up the rules regarding driving them beforehand.
ROUTE 2
1 From Garve you can stay on the A835 until Braemore Junction 20 miles (32km).
2 Turn left onto the A832 and follow the road through Aultbea and Poolewe to Gairloch in 55 miles (88km).
3 At the foot of the hill after entering Gairloch the B8021 to Sands Caravan & Camping branches to the right.
This route is longer but is all double track road.
